Good for simple returns, ELSTER worked

I filed my Lohnsteuererklärung with Lohnsteuer Kompakt this year. The process of entering data was fairly intuitive, I appreciated not having to install anything. Anyone know if Lohnsteuer Kompakt lets you use more than one coupon code? Like, if I have a student discount and another general one, can I stack them?

Nah, pretty sure you can only use one code per filing. I tried that once with a new customer discount and a referral code, didn't work.

Yeah, totally free to do the calculation and enter your stuff. You only pay if you actually want to submit it to the tax office. I used it last year and just checked my estimated refund without paying anything.

What's the main difference between Lohnsteuer Kompakt and, say, WISO Steuer? I've used WISO before but looking for something simpler this year.

Lohnsteuer Kompakt is completely web-based, no software install needed. WISO can be a bit more feature-rich for super complex cases, but LK is usually quicker and more straightforward for most people, especially employees.

WISO can get complicated fast. LK is more guided, step-by-step, good if you don't want to get bogged down in too many options. Both are good though, just depends on your preference.
